Beechwood Continuing Care’s Welcome Home initiative is facility-wide and focused on enhancing as many aspects as possible to make Blocher and Beechwood a true home for its residents.
This vision of eliminating the institutional environment from the nursing home and its assisted living residence is an effort geared toward producing positive and meaningful impact upon the residents’ quality of life as well as their health.
The Beechwood Homes have undergone changes to implement this initiative including the creation of 14 households and the establishment of “open dining” at the Blocher Homes. The “Households” include a country kitchen, living area and dining area replacing the traditional “institutional” model of care where you typically find long, sterile corridors and nursing stations. The Welcome Home initiative empowers residents to make as many choices about how they would like care delivered to them to the extent that they are capable.
Beechwood Continuing Care is a local not-for-profit organization, located in Amherst, that provides a full continuum of care including independent senior apartment homes, assisted living, sub-acute rehabilitation, and skilled nursing care.
